Robert L. "Butch" Knittle, 79, of Pine Grove,  passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center.

Born on October 21, 1944 in Pottsville, he was a son of the late Harry G. Sr. and Amy Leininger Knittle.

Robert graduated from Pottsville High School in 1962.  Upon graduation, he entered the U.S. Navy serving from 1962-1966.

He was an avid outdoorsman.  He loved fishing, hunting, golf and gardening.  His love of the outdoors came from being raised on his families Christmas Tree farm.  

Robert was also a big sports fan.  He loved the Nittany Lions and all things Philadelphia.

He was a member of St. Paul's UCC in Auburn.

Robert retired from Tredegar Film Products in Marlin.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joan James, Carol Dillow and Linda Staller.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Jeanette Jenkins Knittle; two daughters, Christine Sewick, partner Ginny Henderson of Apopka, FL, Diane Roberts, husband Daniel of Orwigsburg; two granddaughters, Tiffani Shaner, husband Pete of Omaha, NE, Cierra Sewick of Apopka, FL; three grandsons, Gregory Roberts and Jeffrey Roberts, both of Orwigsburg, Dakota Roberts of Ocala, FL; a brother, Harry G. Knittle, Jr. of Birdsboro, Pa; a sister, Jenny Butts of Escondido, CA; many nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Ken McDowell officiating. There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to a Veterans program of your choice.
