Richard Mark, Jr Obituary

Richard H. Mark, Jr.
June 28, 2025

Mr. Richard H. Mark, Jr., of Pine Grove, Pennsylvania and previously of New Providence & Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2025, at the age of 73.

Born on October 2, 1951, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Richard H and Cherie D (Townsend) Mark. Richard was a proud native of the state he called home throughout his life. He graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School in 1969 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering from Penn State University-an achievement that marked the beginning of a distinguished professional journey.

Richard dedicated his career to the field of technology and engineering, first in working for Westinghouse Electric and traveling all over the world, then culminating in his role as Vice President of Software for Volian Enterprises in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. His leadership and expertise were instrumental to the company’s success until his retirement in 2023.

A man of deep faith and compassion, Richard was a devoted member of Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church in Quarryville, Pennsylvania. His commitment to his beliefs was evident in both his personal and professional life. He served as an elder on the Session at Faith and committee work at Susquehanna Valley Presbytery. He enjoyed supporting Vacation Bible School and was a member on the audio/visual/computer tech crew at the church. He was always available to help others with their computers. Above all he was a friend to many.

Richard is lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of 50 years, Janet (Wright) Mark; his son, Richard (Rachel) Mark III; and his daughters, Rachel (Joseph) Brown and Lydia (Richard) Butler. He also leaves behind five cherished grandchildren: Shawn, Jack, Charles, Miley, and Sophia. He is survived by his sister Melissa Kinsey and brother Andrew (Theresa) Mark.

He was preceded in death by his sister Susan Weitzel and nephew Joshua Mark.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to support Parkinsons research-a cause close to the hearts of those who knew him.

May his memory bring comfort and peace to all who were touched by his life. A Memorial Service will be held on July 19, 2025, starting at 12:00 pm at Faith Reformed Presbyterian Church, 611 Robert Fulton Hwy., Quarryville, PA 17566, With Visitation starting at 11 am.
