Marlene M. (Mas) Ney, 82, of Pine Grove, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26, at home surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Pottsville on February 7, 1944 to the late Eva (Koch) and step-father Arnold Kerschner. She was raised by her grandparents Joe and Sally Koch, Auburn.
She was a 1963 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School.
She held many jobs over the years including, sewing machine operator and seamstress, restaurant manager, cashier, baker, cook, and babysitter, but her most rewarding accomplishments were being the best wife, mother and maw maw.
Marlene was an active member at the Pine Grove Fish and Game and served as President of the Ladies Artillery for 16 years. She was also a social member at the VFW Post 3432, Ten Pin, Bethel Firehouse, Mt. Aetna Fire Company, Fredericksburg Legion and Pine Grove Senior Citizens.
Marlene loved spending time with her familyespecially her grandchildren. They were truly what kept her going throughout the years. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends, attending church, and shows. You could always find her in the kitchen cooking up a delicious meal for her family and/or baking bread or goodies that she would share with all of Pine Grove. She will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by a son, Charles W. Ney, Jr., a nephew, Michael A. Ney, who was always a son to our family and a brother, Robert “Bobby” Kerschner.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Charles W. (C.W.) Ney, Sr.; three daughters, Doreen (Lymie) Lymaster, Heather (Fritz) Burke and Shelly (Kevin) Brown; ten grandchildren, Lyndsey (Justin) Knoll, Larissa Lymaster (Billy Felty), Katryna Sattizahn, Jacob, Adam and Marlena Burke, Connor and Carley Brown all of Pine Grove, Jordan Ney of Jonestown and Jenna (Ben) Smith of Bethel; six great grandchildren, Ava Knoll, Ian and Cameron Felty, Raurie Hoke, Adalin and Bentley Smith; a brother, Danny (Bev) Kerschner, Auburn and sisters Linda Smith, Pottsville and Shirley Reedy, Fleetwood; two sisters in law, Teddy Ney, Pine Grove and Dorothy Hoffman, Shillington, along with several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the H. H. & L. Fire Co. Banquet Hall, 1 Orchard St., Pine Grove.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Open Door Project, 72 South Tulpehocken Street, Pine Grove in her memory.
