John E. "Skipper" Kling

John E. "Skipper" Kling, 74, of York, passed away on Thursday, August 4, 2022 in UPMC Memorial in York.
Born on May 2, 1948 in Syracuse, NY, he was a son and step son of the late John J. Kling and Clarence and Ida Filsinger Donaldson.
He was a graduate of Saranac Lake Central High School.
John was in the Marines for 4 years, serving in Vietnam during the war.
After his discharge from the service, John attended North Country Community College and the PA state police academy for municipal police training. He was a patrolman in numerous boroughs and served as Chief of Police in Pine Grove in the 1980's. He retired as a Corrections Officer from Camp Hill SCI.
He was a life member of the Pine Grove VFW Post 3432, NRA, Veterans of Vietnam War and the American Legion. He was an avid New England Patriots fan.
Preceding him in death were a daughter Jennifer Kiene; a granddaughter, Darian Kiene; a great grandson, Abel Kiene; three sisters, Ida Donaldson, Barbara Callaghan and Gail Donaldson; and a brother Ronald Donaldson..
Surviving are two daughters, Karen Kling of Pine Grove, and Stephanie (Christopher) Harner of Schuylkill Haven; three grandsons, Cory and Matthew Kiene, both of Pine Grove, Finnegan Harner of Schuylkill Haven; his companion Pam Painter of York; a brother Dale Donaldson of CA; two sisters, Mary Prevatt of N.C. and Dorothea Carpenter of N.Y.; nieces and nephews.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at 12:30 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with SALM John Ziegler officiating. There will be a visitation on Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 11:00 A.M. until 12:30 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the PA Wounded Warriors Inc., 1117 Country Club Road, Camp Hill, Pa 17011 in his memory.
