John W. “Chute” Heinbach

John Wilson Heinbach, 85, of Pine Grove, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, in St. Lukes Hospital, Orwigsburg.
Born on August 5, 1939, in Pine Grove, he was the son of the late John A. and Mae (Zimmerman) Heinbach. Preceding him in death earlier this year was his wife, Frances Heinbach. Surviving are their two daughters, Dawn Heinbach and wife JoAnn Jones of Kutztown, Sharon Rickert and husband Barry of Valley View; three grandchildren, Jill Miller (Tim), Dustin Rickert, James Hancock (Tori); five great grandchildren, Kole, Owen, Dustin Jr., Gracyn, Hayley, Steven and Cooper; nephews and nieces.
John was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and an alumnus of Pine Grove High School Class of 1958. After graduating high school, John worked as an offset press operator at Ft. Indiantown Gap, a milling machine operator in Reading, a butcher at Acme Markets in Pine Grove, and part-time as tax collector for Pine Grove Township. After 5 years at Acme, John was employed at New Cumberland Army Depot, New Cumberland, where he worked as a materials handler and warehouse supervisor. He served in this logistics capacity as a civilian in Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. He retired from New Cumberland after 21 years of service and then worked for Pine Grove Township before enjoying full retirement.
John was a lifelong fisherman and hunter and a current member of the Oak Grove Sportsmen’s Association, Pine Grove. In earlier years, he belonged to the Brookside Gun Club, North End Fire Company and the Schuylkill County Volunteer Firemen’s Association. A fun-loving guy, John had many friends whom he never hesitated to help in a time of need. He attended his daughters’ school musical concerts and other extracurricular activities and drove them up and down the east coast for family vacations.
