Jerry Sunday Obituary

Jerry Lee Sunday

January 23, 2025

Jerry Lee Sunday, 77,  Dillsburg, passed in the presence of family on Thursday, January 23, 2025 in the Tremont Health & Rehab Center.

Born on January 31, 1947 in Vero Beach, FL, he was a son of the late Michael and Daisy Sunday.

Jerry was a 1965 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School.

He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War.

Jerry was a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic and worked for 25 years at both the Mechanicsburg Naval Base and The Sygma Network in Harrisburg. Family and friends already miss his natural ability to fix or work on just about anything!

He was a member of Christian Life Assembly Church in Camp Hill and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 542.  He enjoyed fly fishing, gardening, spending time with his grandchildren, and cheering for the Philadelphia Eagles. Despite Parkinson’s and Dementia making the world a confusing place, Jerr rooted for the Birds until his final days!

Preceding him in death was a son, Darryl Manning.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann Howard Sunday; a son, Neil and wife Lori Sunday of Dillsburg; two daughters, Marcy and husband Daniel Dalton of Virginia Beach, VA, Nichole Meaden of York; three grandchildren, Mateo, Mikela and Maria Paz Meaden; his twin brother, Michael and wife Dolly Sunday of Dillsburg; a sister, Patricia and husband Ron Sadler of Carlisle; nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services and interment will be held on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at 12:30 P.M. at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville with Pastor Scott Ball officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to The Dementia Society of America (https://www.dementiasociety.org/donate) or Operation Smile (https://operationsmile.org) in his name.
