July 1, 2025
Jean T. Becker, 89, of Pine Grove, entered eternal life on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 in Stoneridge Poplar Run in Myerstown.
Born on October 15, 1935 in Minersville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Jennie Gutswa McGann.
She was a graduate of Minersville High School.
Jean had been employed as a floor lady at a garment factory and then worked in the cafeteria for the Pine Grove Area School District.
She was a member of Most Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Tremont and a member of the Women's Guild at the church. Jean was a woman of unwavering faith, a devout servant of God whose life was a living testament to grace, compassion, and love. She volunteered countless hours assisting with various church functions, cleaning the church, and offering communion to local nursing home residents. She deeply believed in the power of prayer and always leaned on her deep spiritual foundation.
Jean was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family. Surviving are her beloved husband of 68 years, Robert I. Becker; four children, Richard and wife Cindy Becker of Strausstown, Cindy Bettinger, wife of the late Dan "Chico" Bettinger, Scott and wife Mechelle Becker, and Dawn and husband Steve Reiter, all of Pine Grove; 8 grandchildren, Ricky, Shannon, Matt, Megan, Melanie, Robbie, Luke and Hannah; 9 great grandchildren, Briar, Logan, Breyel, Taylor, Levi, Evelyn, Dylan, Emily and Paige.
Jean was a beacon of love, compassion, and kindness. Her unwavering empathy and deep concern for others touched countless lives – whether through a homemade meal, a listening ear, or simply a kind word at just the right moment. She had the ability to make others feel cared for and special.
She was always on the move, filling her life with so many activities that she deeply enjoyed: walking, exercising, shopping, reading, traveling, visiting family and friends, and cooking. She will forever be known as the “World’s Best Halupki Maker”. She also loved attending Pine Grove Area sporting events with her husband. Many will remember her for her love of music and dancing. Jean and Bob were a delight to watch on the dance floor together.
