Fern L. Kurtz, 91, of Sweet Arrow Lake Rd., Pine Grove, passed away on Friday, December 10, 2021 at home.

Born on April 8, 1930 in Bellegrove, Lebanon Co., she was a daughter of the late Allen L. and Martha M. Fortna Hostetter.

She was a 1948 graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Lebanon Valley High School.

Fern was an active member and organist at Manbeck's Church, Schuylkill Haven.  She also was organist at the former St. Paul's EC Church, Pine Grove.

She was a member of the Pine Grove Area Council of Churches, Pine Grove Ambulance Auxiliary, Schuylkill County Fair Board, Mt. Lebanon Campmeeting, 4-H, and would drive people to doctor appointments.  She also loved to read.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry B. Kurtz; two grandchildren, Nevin Hostetter and Kimberly Ann Kurtz; two brothers, Clyde Hostetter and Glenn Hostetter.

Surviving are two sons, Wayne and wife Donna Kurtz of Pine Grove, Steve and wife Laurie Kurtz of Clear Spring, MD; two daughters, Ardella and husband R. Kenneth Newswanger, Sr. of Pine Grove, Eileen and husband Calvin Hostetter of Rockwood; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and a sister, Pearl Lightner of Dallas, TX.

Memorial Services will be held on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 2:30 P.M. at Manbeck's Church, 110 Wild Cherry Rd., Schuylkill Haven with Pastor Norman Dixon officiating.  Interment will follow in Manbeck's Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to the Pine Grove Council of Churches Weekday Church School, c/o Cathy Nagle, 527 Dad Burnhams Rd. Schuylkill Haven, Pa. 17972 in her memory.
