Dorothy W Hoffman, 100 of Pine Grove, passed away on Sunday, April 17, at her home.  

Born on November 15, 1921, in Lebanon, she was a daughter of the late John M.  and Ethel M Lengel Wiegand.

Dorothy was a graduate of Pine Grove HIgh School and Central Penn Business School in Harrisburg. She had been employed as a secretary for Klinger Construction in Pine Grove and then in the payroll department at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation.

Dorothy loved watching Lawrence Welk,  gardening and doing all types of puzzles. 

Dorothy married her sweetheart, George E. Hoffman on July 11, 1945 after his release from the army.  They shared over 71 years together until he passed away on Dec. 28, 2016.  They purchased the Light House Diner from Rass Greenawalt in 1947, converting the diner into the home where they lived raising three boys along the way.  

A step brother, John Wiegand and a step sister, Mary Lorraine Francel both preceded her in death.           

Surviving are three Sons, Lawrence G and wife Joanne Hoffman, Donald Hoffman and Philip Hoffman; one Granddaughter, Amanda wife of Andrew Irving, and a Niece, Sue wife of Ernie Scott all of Pine Grove.   

Graveside Services will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville on Monday, April 25,  at 10:30 am with  Pastor Barry Spatz officiating.   There will be a viewing on  Monday, April 25, from 9:00 am - 9:30 am at the H. L. Snyder Funeral  Home, Inc.   

A special thank you to the staff of the Advantage Home Health and Hospice for taking good care of Dorothy.  

The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, contributions be given to the charity of your choice in her memory.

Heaven gained a beautiful soul on Easter.  Our mother, grandmother was so sweet and caring.  She loved her family with all her heart.  We learned so much from her.   She saw so many things in her life including being able to celebrate 100 years this past November.  She will be dearly missed, but we know she'll be watching over us.  Love ya Mom and Grandma!
