Alda Emerich Kerschner, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 24, 2021, in Redstone Highlands, Murrysville, PA. 

Born October 4, 1928 in Pine Grove Township, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Florence Brown Emerich of Pine Grove. 

She married Roy Franklin Kerschner in Pine Grove on Christmas Eve, 1953. 

Alda graduated from Pine Grove High School in 1946, and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing in 1949.  She received her BS degree in Public School Nursing in 1970 and her M Ed in Guidance and Counseling in 1975 from Slippery Rock University. She was Head Nurse of Maternity at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital from 1949 - 1953; Exodontist Scrub Nurse, 1954; and a member of the original Allegheny General Hospital IV team from 1955-1957. She retired in 1989 from Hampton Twp. School District after serving as an Elementary School Nurse in multiple schools for 20 years. 

She was an active member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Gibsonia since 1954. Alda loved spending time with her family, playing the piano, singing, collecting antiques, gardening, and genealogy. 

Preceding her in death were her loving husband of 63 years, Roy; a sister Gladys Sites; and three brothers, Marlin, Robert, and Earl Emerich. 

Surviving are her son, David and wife Beth Kerschner, of Murrysville; daughter, Barbara Kerschner, of Cocoa, FL.; four grandchildren, Amy and husband Alex Smith, Daniel Kerschner and Laura Kerschner, all of Murrysville, and Andrew Kerschner of State College; great-granddaughters Joanna and Rosalie Smith; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 31 at 12:00 P.M. at the H. L. Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., Pine Grove with Pastor Brian Beissel officiating.  There will be a viewing on Saturday July 31 from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at the Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in Manbeck's Cemetery, Schuylkill Haven. 

The family would like to thank the Redstone staff and Hospice for Alda’s care.
